Icon5 1991 2wd Ranger lift kit question

Hi, I am new to this forum. I recently acquired a very nice 1991 2wd ranger with the 4.0 L engine and a five speed transmission. The truck is a cream puff. A buddy of mine gave me a brand new in the box Trailmaster 4 inch lift kit for a 2wd Ford ranger, however it turns out it’s for an 83 to 88 model truck. The I-beam and knuckle is a different design on the earlier model, apparently.

My question is, if I acquire the earlier style knuckles that will fit on these I-beams that I have, will this kit then be able to be used in my 1991 model truck? What other parts would I need if there are more parts necessary besides the knuckles? I’m guessing there could be some differences in the brake calipers and possibly the brake rotors if the spindles are different. What about the tie rod end? I wonder if the later model trucks have a larger diameter taper on the tie rod end.

The kit that I have also came with a drop Pitman arm for the steering box. I wonder if it will fit on my steering box.

any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

I think I may have answered my own question. It appears to be a doable swap, I just need to get a set of knuckles off of an earlier style set up. My brakes should work, and so will the tire rod.

Anybody have a set of pre-89 2wd knuckles for sale
