Icon9 No crank... starter good

Hello all,

I drive a 2008 Ford ranger 4.0 4x4 with an auto trans. a while back I parked it after getting home from work and the next morning I went to start it.... nothing. I thought to myself ah must be the battery(it has spent the last 5 years in -30 degree weather) I replaced the battery and nothing. Next thought, starter broken. I replaced the whole motor assembly... nothing. when I turn the key I get a single click of the solenoid engaging but the motor does not turn. I have tested both new and old motor and both work fine when hot wired. That lead me to think maybe I had a grounding issue. checked my ground and I get a good ground at all places. I know it is not an ignition problem as the solenoid clicks with the turn of the key. just wont deliver voltage to the motor for some reason. I am out of ideas and too frustrated to keep guessing. Does anyone here have any ideas? I am now located in Colorado Springs, Co.

Let me know if you have any more questions or if there is anything I can clarify.

Thank you all very much for the help!
