What should be included in a head gasket replacement on a 2.3L?

So I have a 1995 2.3L, and recently I blew a rad hose, and it overheated so badly that it died, so I filled it up with enough coolant to get me home, replaced the line, and then found out that I blew my head gasket. There was air coming up through the rad, and coolant coming out the tailpipe, as well as only 30 psi of compression in cyl 2, and an almost complete loss of compression in cyl 1. So my next step would be to start tearing the top end apart and see what kind of damage was done. But since I’m going to have the engine already apart, what else would be wise to replace while I’m in there? And what else could I do to squeeze a bit more power out of the motor as well, since it’s pretty gutless and slow. Open to any and all suggestions, thanks.
