P0153 - EGR? O2?
P0153 - EGR? O2?
So a-lot happened that led to this code, so I don’t think the O2 sensor is the issue. So it all started with a bad valve cover gasket that leaked oil into the spark plugs. So I replaced the gaskets and the plugs but then about half the spark plug wires broke while I was doing that… so I replaced the wires (but I’m an idiot) and left the wire touching the exhaust recirculation pipe causing the wire to melt and two spark plugs wires to catch fire… replaced the wires (correctly) and now the car was running rich and was insanely loud (like a roaring sound). So I realized the vacuum hose that runs to the recirculation pressure sensor was melted by the fire. Replaced the hose and realized the plastic on the sensor where the hose connects has completely deteriorated… replaced that then I got this code and the car is still running rich (sitting mostly at .7ish volts dropping down to .2ish occasionally) so I guess it wasn’t the vacuum leak. I feel like it would be too much of a coincidence for the o2 sensor to go bad at the exact same time. I don’t know… hopefully there is someone here smarter than me has an idea. Maybe the EGR it’s self is bad (I definitely smell exhaust), maybe the two wires touching screwed something else up, maybe it’s just the o2 sensor.
Update:
replaced o2 sensors and cleared codes seems to be running better but still reading incomplete on I/M test for heater and monitor, plan on driving it for a bit to see if that changes it’s only been a few days
