2003 Explorer Sport cluster in a 96 Ranger

I have seen threads about swapping a 2003 Explorer SPORT TRAC cluster into a 96 Ranger but I was wondering if you can do the same with a 2003 Explorer SPORT. They are two different vehicles so I don't want to waste my time. I found the SPORT in the junkyard with a beautiful white face and would love to have it if it works. Thanks!

If the dash in the Explorer looks like the dash in your Ranger, it should work. If the dash looks different, it won't work.

It worked! RPMs and speedometer are right on the mark. CEL didn't light with key on and the temp gauge spiked. I repined the CEL wire, pink/lt green, after studying the Sport and Ranger wiring diagrams. To fix the temp gauge, I swapped out the gauge from the Ranger. Looks great!
