Any Transmission techs on here?

Okay first off I know quite a bit about automatic transmissions myself I've rebuilt quite a few and have quite a few problem free miles under my belt lol. BUT, My very first rebuild, which was in my '99 Ford Ranger 4.0 OHV has now after about 30,000 trouble free miles thrown a p0741 indicating torque converter clutch performance. So I initially changed the torque converter clutch solenoid, it being the easiest to repair. that did not fix my problem I also replaced the EPC at the same time. Now I'm stuck trying to to figure out if it's a valve body problem like a worn torque converter clutch bore or If my torque converter is actually beginning to fail. The torque converter was replaced when it was rebuilt with a remanufactured torque converter. The valve body was opened and had shift kit installed at the same time but not replaced. Valve body has 291k miles , so I'm leaning towards that being the issue but how can I properly tell without throwing parts at it ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi I am not a transmission tech or expert yet I am an retired ASE technician maybe I can help stir up some ideas.
Other than the code does your truck have any kind of drivability issues?
What type of scanner do you own?
Have you checked the pressures before and after replacing these parts?
There is supposed to be a test port on the side the the transmission that with the right guage you can test the pressure for each gear.
I do not know what the pressures should be for each gear but I imagine a quick search online may help with that.
.
Harbor freight has a oil - transmission guage set fairly inexpensive ( Link provided below )

Also how does the transmission fluid smell and look like?

Wanting to swap 5r55e from 4.0 SOHC into a ranger with 4.0 OHV

My question is I have 2 5R55Es one in a 98 mountaineer with 4.0 SOHC, the other a 99 ranger with 4.0 OHV. The Ranger transmission has no 1st gear. Both being 5R55Es I was hoping to swap the trans from the mountaineer into the Ranger; however, I know the torque converters are different and the transfer cases are different. What damage or issues would arise if I bought a new converter for the Ranger trans and put it in the mountaineer trans and made the swap?

2004 engine 2002 transmissionwe put a 2004 4.0 motor in a 2002 ford ranger 4x4 with automatic transmission. engine runs and revs up fine except when you put it in drive it wants to cut out and has no power. has a torque converter solenoid code along with a shift solenoid a-d codes. anyone know if this engine and tranny would be compatible? all the plugs plug in just fine everywhere.
