My 99 4.0 needs a new clutch. Many things have to come out to replace that system of things.

I will be changing the rear main seal as well. I'm replacing it with the Ford F5TZ-6701-A and install tool.



My question is, I also need to replace the oil pan gasket. I know many say the engine needs to come out for this procedure but with the tranny, transfer case and the such removed do you think that there would be any way to change the gasket without engine removal or is that frame cross member the main issue limiting access?
