Shifting issues - lazy and high RPM
Shifting issues - lazy and high RPM
Hello, having issues with my transmission (5R44E paired to a 3.0 V6 2006 Ranger).
Issue boils down to bad shifts. There is no delay with shifting into reverse or any other gear. However, in drive, any throttle input puts it at 2000RPM. It tries to shift into 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gear in this lazy fashion. At any throttle input beyond extremely light, it does not want to shift. I have a massive RPM spike to 4-6k RPM, and it does not shift unless I let off the throttle completely for a moment, where it won't shift until I hit the throttle again. Sometimes it will lazily shift without this throttle lifting, however this is limited to into second gear. The downshifts have few issues except a rough shift back into first that feels like the whole truck bogs down.
There is a hop when moving to and from park to drive as well. I don't know if this could be related, so I will note it just in case. Fluid is at appropriate level; I have repaired the only leak I could find from a blown seal.
In summary:
2006 Ford Ranger 3.0 V6 with an automatic 5 speed transmission, 5R44E

In summary:
2006 Ford Ranger 3.0 V6 with an automatic 5 speed transmission, 5R44E
- Bad, rough shifts that spike RPM and require to let off the throttle to shift
- Rough downshift into first gear causing a bogging sensation
- Fluid level is ok and clean, no leaks
