A port and a vacuum line... what are these supposed to be attached to?
Just did the cylinder heads on this truck for my nephew, putting it back together and I have a few issues left. (I lost the disassembly photos while the heads were in the shop) They are the following:
Where does the ground wire go?
1: I have a vacuum port on the intake I'm not sure what goes there,
2: a vacuum line with seemingly nothing to put in it
3: weird pcv pipe that i broke, got replacement from junk yard.

any help would be tremendously appreciated.

my father passed 8 weeks ago, made it known he meant to fix this truck for my nephew. I'm here doing it now, last and final steps; i did the timing and put new heads (overheated and cracked) , plugs, ignition, water pump and all associated gaskets. Just need some help to get past the finish line!

thank you for any help gentleman.

Those two "pipes" are part of the EGR system, Exhaust gas recirculation. They have nothing to do with the PCV system, Positive crankcase ventilation. Basically, the EGR is there to recirculate exhaust gases back into the combustion chamber to reduce emissions. That pipe with the "fat" end goes into a port on the bottom of the upper plenum.

The leak at the fuel injector! Did you replace the O rings on the injectors? If not, you should have. They get extremely brittle after years of heat they endure. I just replaced lower intake and upper gasket, fuel rail gasket, oil pan gasket, rear main seal, along with the entire clutch system on my 99 4.0 ranger. Ive owned my Ranger for 25 yrs. I removed and cleaned my injectors and replaced the O-rings. No leaks at start-up.

How do you clean fuel injectors? I have an ultrasonic cleaner.

Well, my cleaning of the injectors consisted of removing the injector and both O-rings and using pure gasoline, not ethanol, and a brush to remove all the dirt and debris. I also made sure to lightly brush the injector orifices. It's amazing how good of a cleaner pure gas is. You can also use a 9-volt battery, two wires and four alligator clips to test the injectors before re-installing.

Top pic. That is the fuel damper. There's a small red vacuum line that goes there

Bottom pic. Your brake booster line and attach it to that first nipple,, far right.

Take those two red lines and attach it to the next nipple, and then Take that short, fat black hose and attach it to the pcv valve.
