No crank

The 2000 4.0 ranger will not crank. When I turned the key this morning it clicked but did not crank. Tried again and lost power.
Found a 20a fuse in the ign port blown. Sorted that all out but still have nothing.
When I turn the key on the volt meter barely rises. Multi meter shows 12.74v at the battery.
Still don't know what blew the fuse as well.
The 20 a ha been there since we got the truck about 6 months ago.
TIA for any help.

Welcome to the forum!
Turn on your headlights before you try to crank again and have someone look at them. Try to crank.
If they dim, it could mean your starter is having issues (electricity is getting around, but there's a draw to the bad starter).
If not, check your grounds. It sounds to me like it's your starter, though. I could be wrong!

Thanks for the information. Weather is lousy, wind and rain so not a lot of work time. Did crank it with headlights on. No change in lights. Jut a click under the dash I think and the v meter drops. Short somewhere in the ign circuit is my guess. Checking grounds in the rain today

Good stuff! Let us know what you find if the weather favors you. I know we got some pretty rough weather where I am earlier this week!

Replaced the Starter and all seems well now. Meter issue was actually just a low battery (drained by the old starter is my guess. Fuse blown was 1 undersized fuse and whenthe starter Shorted it blew.
All is well now.
Thanks for the helpful information
