Does anyone know how to replace or where the fuel filter is in a 2000 XLT?
and what the capacity of the fuel tank is?

 

they should be in the middle of the bed cab and bed underneath cant really miss it. 17/5 gallons

 

19.5/19.8 for a 99 XLT Supercab

mine's on the inside of the frame rail just aft of the cab.

 

mine is right under the driverseat on the inside of the frame rail... be careful when you change it to not break the connectors or else you will have to replace the whole fuel line

 

GATOR IS RIGHT!!!!! I broke a retaining ring (located inside the fuel line fittings) because I didn't know what I was doing. Ford wanted $450 to fix it. Nobody makes the retaining rings that install inside of the fuel line. I had to cut off the fuel line that had the broken ring and splice on a fuel line with a different style fitting that I got at Napa.

Technically, you're supposed to use a fuel line disconnect tool to remove the fuel lines, but you can remove the lines from the filter by pushing the colored ring (visible through a slot in the fitting on the hose end) with your thumb, while simultaniously pulling the fuel line off of the filter.

Be sure to de-pressurize the fuel system first; you will get some good spray. And have a pan under the truck, as you will lose a lot of fuel from the lines and the filter. If you rotate the filter 90 degrees, what fuel is left in it will pour out (about a pint!).
