Truck broke down

Well i went to get gas today, and it all started with the pump not shutting off and overfilling my tank. Being pissed that gas just got all over my truck i take off out of the lot, i thought it was weird that i had the pedal down pretty far, not floored, and the only thing i noticed was the rpms going up I think the highest it hit was 4500 rpms. I wasn't spinnin tires or anything just leaving in a hurry and it seemed to acclerate almost like normal, as in around maybe 2500-3000.

Anyways, I make it to the stop light about 200 feet from the gas station and my truck starts to shake and the motor stalls. There was smoke coming out from under the hood, at first i thought it overheated but the guages said that was fine. I get out and open the hood, and dont see anything wrong, so i try to start the truck again. The only way I could keep my truck running was by keeping the rpms at around 2k, did this long enough to get out of the intersection to a parking lot, maybe another 100 feet. Then when i left off the gas to stop the motor started to die, and i lost my brakes, motor came back along with the brakes.

Im wanting to believe it is a vacuum leak somewhere, because there was a hissing sound when the rpms would go down. Which could also possibly be the problem with my brakes. But why would there have been smoke from a vacuum leak?

Truck got towed to the dealership to get fixed. I'm supposed to get a call from them tomorrow to find out whats wrong, Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what might be wrong here.

its never done this before?

i would have unlocked the gas cap once and tried to restart it.

check the fuel cut off switch and fuses.

but since its at the dealer im sure after a couple weeks they will figure it out.

if smoke is comin out of your engine compartment that can be bad of course(dumb statement i k now). A cat should push the smoke out of hte back if any. If its goin to the dealer they'll figure it out quickly hopefully.

Well, they seem to have fixed it already. They said it was the idle air control sensor. It went bad or something, this caused my vacuum leak which im guessing is why i lost my brakes in the parking lot. I asked them if thats why there was smoke too, the mechanic was a little surprised when i said there was smoke. He thinks it could have been a backfire or something that caused it, which doesnt make sense to me. Now there just working on a few other things i had them do while the truck was in the shop.

So far everything is covered under warranty, which makes me happy.

Glad to hear it's getting fixed. I am amazed that you got it fixed in a day let alone got them to look at it in a day.
