Man - talk about beating a dead horse....and off road does not mean a drive down a dirt road to go pumpkin picking.

Off road means crawling under your truck to find a pulling point after you are already in the sh*t and have no tow hooks.
Off road means going up a 35 degree incline constructed of rolling boulders with an open rear and street tires.
Off road means staying with your buddies and not pitching a fit.

As long as you're buying the clears.

lol! I voted you would go, Jon. I think you've been working up to this for quite a while. I remember how excited (and nervous) you were riding with me in Centralia last February. I could see that it worried you, but you were also wanting to do it -- you're just concerned for your truck. Some here think TOO concerned. I don't know if that's a valid point of view, though your concern IS obvious.

But, at some point, no matter how hard you try, your truck is going to get whacked and have some cosmetic damage. It's inevitable. Usually you will have NO fun incurring this damage. However, while offroading you can have LOADS of fun while damaging your truck.

To me it's a no brainer: damage with no fun, or damage with fun.

I choose FUN!!! :)

Hmmmm... "true" offroading with underbody neons? You better take those off first Jon.

I gotta admit, I was a teensy bit worried about the night off-roading trip and having "major body damage" on my truck -- but I'm soooo glad I did. It was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again!

I choose FUN too!

Yes, especially since the leader of our night trip (me) had never been night offroading before!

It sure was fun though and I'm going to do it again as well!

I was more worried about mechanical damage then cosmetic. Screw the paint job, I can get home w/ a busted in fender! Breaking something in the drive-train would really have ruined my afternoon. Even snaging a breakline would mean a tow to a dealer's lot as I have no tools or know-how for such a repair on-site. I count myself as lucky to get through things like that drop where John said "I'm goin left here because it looks like fun. If you don't want my kind of fun, don't follow me!" Truth be told I didn't follow him.. ..Although I hit that same drop later on the way back! ;-)

And I'll say it again once more publicly: Night time off-road experience or not, I felt much more comfortable w/ someone that had a decent knowledge of the landscape and terrain up front! Even in the quary where the landscape changes, at least you knew enough to get out and scope the situation out before hand.. Hell, I'm not even sure I'd know what to look for out there!

Jon has custom skid plates for the neons. I vote that he does actually go offroad this time (maybe on purpose )

Yeah it is. I said I was done Saturday night in PA when they were headed to the rock quarry at night! Ya'll like how that actually happened, right? Glad I caved though, was an awesome time!

No pressure from me. I was opposed to leading everyone to the quarry FOR THE FIRST TIME at night. Although I've been there during the day, I"ve also hurt my truck there (Tom now knows about that, lol) and I thought it was a BAD idea. But, I was "peer pressured" into doing it. (Alright, it didn't take much pressure -- but I was TRYING to make sure everyone knew the risks in that environment).

However, as "leader", if my 2WD truck made it, it was pretty likely yours could too -- and everyone else had 4WD so I figured they could make it. Other than that, the main potential on the route we took was potential tire damage. We didn't go up on the "cliffs" where I almost slid off on my previous visit to the quarry.

This was my argument ultimately as well. Once I realized that Wowak was in the mix as well I figured we weren't going far enough in to have any substantial problems. When I fell in behind (Neil I think) I figured you all were just going in to take a peek and then come back for real the next day.

It all worked out in the end, but I definitely had second thoughts..
