Has anyone had their truck completely sprayed with bedliner? If so what about did it run you and do you have any pics?

 

you're probably looking at a $2,000 price tag for professionally done like Line-X easily.

I've seen a red jeep Cherokee spray-can painted, didn't look too bad, but I'd do the normal Black color.

 

Well see, I wanna keep it green so that I dont have to deal with the BS MN law where you have to update your title for a color change...so...plus the benefits of having it done professionally help...the whole lifetime warranty..plus I have a buddy who would do all of the prep work including dent removal, media blasting, and primer...so I might save there

i thought about it after having WASH ME etched into my paint....but too expensice for my blood. Just the inside of a bed runs what $300?

 

I thought of this back in the day, but my truck is too new to cover up the paint......A friend of mine had a 87 ranger....and he got it painted with that yellow construction paint......you could key the side and the gel paint would just go back to normal....bedliner would help with door dings and stuff though since you can throw stuff at it and it wont chip or dent

So are you just doing the body.......or would you do the frame, the under niethe.......the bumpers.....

i got a guy at work that me and him been workin on an 88 stang..fox body 5.0 police interceptor rolled in a ditch we cut the roof off with a saw zaw..ordered roll bars from Jegs..got to air horns on the roof(whats left of it) rhino lined the whole thing..bucket seats..its badd *** ill snap some pics tomorrow at work..

we take it out infront of the shop and lay down like 50' burn out marks..lol he needs tires too..

but it looks pretty good..did the inside and the outside

for one spray in bedliners Fade and get nasty looking over time this will look fine plus you will get some looks with it thats for sure...

i have a couple of buddy's who have had their full vehicles' rhino-lined.

a friend did his old blazer, and it cost him like $5k, and they did the camper looking top, too.

another friend did his f150 and i think he paid like $2500. he didn't get rhino* brand, though. i think he got scorpion.

you would save alot of money if you did all the prepping yourself. that's what the shops charge the most for. their prep labor. not the polyurethane. that's the cheap part of it.

is all the scratches below that natural bodyline on our trucks? I was thinking about just getting that part covered. It'd be cheaper and protect against rocks chipping.

its vynal wrap your orginaly paint is underneathe so there is no need to change a title...it can come off if you like also protects the trucks paint underneathe..

 

I had an 89 Mazda b2600 xtra cab. I sprayed the whole thing with rattle can bedliner. Litterally, the whole thing, then just used a razor knife to clean off the glass. I dont have any pics but it wasnt to bad looking. Wasnt smooth or shinny but you damn sure couldnt hurt it. If I got a sratch just shook up the old can and touched it up. Wish I had taken pics but it was a spur of the moment decision to cover up the rust and brown paint.

IMO you would be a freaking retard to ryno line the whole truck. heck even just the lower body panel. looks like crap and it ever looks like new after it has been dirty just once.

the mud never washes off easy, it will be a stained brownish/black then it will start to fade, crack, looks like crap. paint has a much better chance of protecting you truck then that crap. that stuff is meant for the inside of the bed only.

 

Yada Yada Yada, don't listen to them. I actually have done this to my truck and it's awesome. You have to see it in person to appreciate it. I know these guys don't like how I did it but it's tough as hell. Btw, I take it to the car wash and mud comes right off , even after sitting for a couple days. Guess what? It looks new every time I spray it. I have to wash the rest of the truck cuz it leaves a film on the paint. I also use Pro-Prep, it's made by Silkolene, you can find it at atv and bike shops is where I get it. After a can of that ($8) on the entire truck including all plastic like step pads, mirrors, door and tailgate handles look brand new. Don't listen to these guys. I'm not sure if you'd wanna do the entire truck though. If you're gonna go that route you might as well remove the bed and get everything.

Most of them. But the rest of the truck is scratched retarded by brush and trees. Plus 3 years ago a 15 year old jacked my truck and hit a sign that effed the p side rear quater up and i had that fixed, but the tards that did it painted it Deep Jade instead of Amazon Green...so that sucks plus the effing dunces seem to have forgotten to prime the new sheet metal...so rust is developing thanks to MN salt.

The problem here is that my paint is fawked. It would need to be painted before it rusts out. Plus sealing the paint with a wrap of vinyl wouldnt neccessarily keep out the salt in the winter, which would only trap the salt right onto the paint which would equal chaos. The bed liner stuff bonds to the primer.

Not to be a total douche, especially since Im new, but the reason that they put it in the bed of the truck is because it protects the bed far superior to what paint can do. Take a handfull of gritty mud/rocks/brush/sand/asphalt and rub it on your paint, then do the same thing to the bedliner stuff....nuff said.

 

I like it, but why didnt you just go up to that mid body line all the way around? If I was going to fix my scratches/gouges with DIY bed liner I would have gone to the mid door body line. But it looks plenty good. Plus its something new

good luck with it then. just offering my opinion. but people that install it say you have to sand it all down. so if you ever change your mind you will have to have the whole truck repainted.

also it would prolly be cheaper to have that stuff repainted then covered with liner, unless you are buying the do it yourself stuff. then good luck to ya.

No its cool dude, its here in this section because I want peoples opinions.
Your correct on it would be best to have the truck repainted then lined, but I had already planned that. My buddy is gonna do all the body work needed and then shoot on some primer, then it will get lined. As far as changing my mind...well in a matter of months this truck will be designated a trail ***** anyways so its all good.
