my apillar pod isnt confoming to my apillar trim as well as id like and its come some gaps even though its pressed agianst it as much as it can...

has anyone bondo'd the pod to the trim then cut the trim off just after the pins that hold it to the trim?

im thinking id still be able to get into the backside of the pod w/o any real problems but i jsut want to see if anyone else has dont this sucessfuly...

 

i think it would look sick..give it a try..

yea that was my only real concern because id rather not buy a new pillar trim peice if it doesnt work out...

 

Eh, i tried finding pictures of my probe when i molded it in, it turned out decent but i wouldnt want it on my apillar in my truck, i would put it down by the cup holders somewhere..

do they make tan or black? I'm thinking about getting one

 

honistly i shaved the autometer pod to fit nice and painted to match and put it on... no need to mold it but it would still be cool...




i wanted it to look like a stock add-on

 

I know this....im saying its a PITA to mold it if it doesnt conform to your apillar as it is......

ok i see what you mean, i thought you used a single pod and molded it to the apillar...

yea i filed mine down along the top and bottom edges because there was the big lip that made it look even worse...

.maybe if i put some foil on the apillar trim, then bondo it to the apillar coverd in foil kinda lik how they do fiberglass i can have it molded perfectly but still removable...


whered you get that paint from zach? or did you just pick a grey from the shelf and tried to match the best one?

 

walked into an auto paint store and i had my piller already removed he opened up a FORD interor paint book we matched my color to one in the book he mixed me a half pint and i painted it...

I have a A pillar from a 01 with no grab handles if you want it. I was going to use it on mine but its a little narrower at the top then mine is. Let me know.

Nice idea but I'm not sure how bad it would block the other gauges.

My pillar pod fit reasonably well out of the box. I painted mine also, but a contrasting grey that matches the trim around my overhead console. There's pictures on here somewhere...it was a while back.

 

I painted my pod yesterday. I "think" i'm gonna gorilla glue the pod to the a-piller while both pieces are out of the truck. Just glue it and clamp them together until it's dry.

 

we "think" that f150 ones will work, not sure yet because he just bought it today but scott is going to try it...

shouldnt block the gauges john, its offset enough and your high enough that it wont matter..

^ his is a manual though and he had to do a lot of modding if i recall...the f150 has the spot for the shifter....
