Custom Front Bumper
Custom Front Bumper
I just threw together a drawing of a front bumper
I was thinking about making. Please note it is in
the initial design stage. I'm planning to make it out
of 7 GA. sheet steel (.1793") w/ 1/4" mounts and
backer plates on the shackles. I'm still debating on
the built in hitch. Is there anything I should know
about airbag sensors? If I connect the bumper to
the original bumper mounts, will the airbags still work?
Or is it more complicated?

There are no air bag sensors to worry about on the front end. That's what I thought too, til I got Doc's front bumper and found out it's an enertia sensor.
That's a sweet arb style bumper. That's almost what I wanted to have made but I'm very happy with the one I have now =]

Hmm... chamfered tires, I've never seen that style before.
Design looks good, I'd go for it.
We won't run 2007 until January, they like to put the upgrades off here for as long as they can.

hey winks driving at 65 you probably have less of a contact patch than that anyway
oh and did you know tires aren't round either
That's really nice... I'm trying to decide between a design like that, or something like a ranch hand bumper without the grill guard pieces... I'll see if I can post a pic of one, but basically, it uses a 3"-4" tube as part of the front edge of the bumper... I can't decide which would be easier to weld up..

BTW: The chamfered tires make it go faster!
