exhaust size

in the next week i'm plannin on puttin a dual flowmaster exhaust system on my 4.0L ranger. first i was plannin on goin with a 2.5 in and 2.25 dual out 40 series flowmaster muffler but now i'm playin with the idea of cuttin my last cat off, goin 3" piping from there to a 3" inlet muffler. What would this do to power, sound, and back pressure??????

I think the only thing that would do is give me a slightly deeper, louder sound.

Your going to lose quite a bit of low end if your going with a 3" pipe. Thats a tad large for a N/A V-6. I'd go with your original option, 2.5 in and 2.25 out. I'd leave the factory cat on too. And its not going to sound the greatest when its new, you have to let the new pipes and muffler break in for about 3,000 miles.
