I need a new passanger side brake caliper.

Im looking on automotive sites to buy one and some list descriptions that say

"semi-loaded"
"fully loaded"
"loaded"

whats this all mean?

also if i replace one side is it recommended to replace both sides?

I know for a fact that the passanger side caliper is messed up. if i get a performance caliper will it effect the braking because i only replaced one?

Im thinking while im at it i want to replace the brake lines with some stainless steel braided lines. i will need 2"-4" longer than stock. anyone have links or info?

guess it all comes down to is if i should replace both or just one? also if i goto a performance caliper does anyone know if i will have issue with clearance? my wheels are within a 1/4" of the caliper now.

Semi loaded would be you need brake pads, loaded and fully loaded come with brake pads from what I can remember. If you replace one caliper with one other than stock I would replace both. The stainless line I cant help ya there.

you wouldnt happen to know what type of fittings for the hose?

what size banjo bolt?

i know stock lenth is 13.25"

 

That I unfortunately do not know, Bob will know for sure I think.

 

I wouldn't know without removing it and using a thread gauge. I have noticed that a lot of the Ranger brake parts are not metric.

 

Well crap. looks like ill have to remove it and figure it out.

Bob what about S&K Brake, they would have the stuff that he is looking for right? Do they ship?

 

Zach, superlift shows 2 styles of longer front brake lines that fit up to 1997 Rangers. Not sure if that would fit the later models. The stainless would probably run $150, the rubber would run about $110.

 

They probably have stock replacements, maybe they can get extended, too. I asked them the last time I was there and they said they will ship parts anywhere.

that is pretty pricy. if i can find the right ones summit has them for 20 each.

Well 315$ later i have new calipers and new brake lines.

I went to a Brake MFG shop and he special ordered the fittings and has DOT certified Stainless Steel Braided line. HE makes the lines custom fit for your aaplication. so that is costing $110

Then i went to NAPA and bought a left and right side caliper at $70 bucks each that come with the caliper and bracket. plus $60 core charge.

hope it all works good. lol
