Chevy Leafs.......

I asked this in someone else's post so instead of hijacking their post, i will start a new one......

I am getting lifted Chevy leafs for Christmas. It doesn't bother me to run a shackle, but for $20 cheaper I can get the Pro Comp 5"-5.5" lift springs.. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku ...my question, would they give me the same amount of lift as the Pro Comp 3" lift springs and the Chevy lowering shackle?

The 5.5" lift Chevy springs are $121.95 and the 3" lift Chevy springs are $109.95... http://store.summitracing.com/partde...39061+400145+0 ......then another $47.95 for the shackles...... http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku ......

Its kind of a hard thing to decide upon, trying to figure out how much lift your going to need with full size springs. See, on a ranger running no blocks and a Chevy lowering shackle, the ProComp springs for a Chevy truck will add 5-6" of lift, pretty much guarenteed. So for that Combo you have the full size Leafs, and Shackles.

I would assume that the Chevy drop shackles i have give me 1-2" of lift. Now if you are using the 3" lift springs and Stock Shackles, i would assume something more along the lines of 4" of lift (but again i could be wrong) So to compensate for not having the Drop Shackles, one would assume you'd need 5-6" full size Lift Springs. The reason i went with the 3" ProComp lift springs is because of a few things..
1. I already knew they would give me the lift i wanted/needed.
2. They work good, give you a decent ride, etc.
3. I already had the Drop Shackles

So its really up to you what you want to do..

more like you looked at mine and rode in mine, that is what made your decision.

then normal chevy leaf springs add 2.5-3" of lift on a ranger.

remove the stock 2.5" block from your truck and you will need 5.5" chevy lift springs.

5.5" chevy lift
+2.5 added lift to ranger from chevy springs
-2.5" block
-----------
5.5"

and you have 5.5" lift in the front.

i think you answered your own question.

im thinking of geting some springs too.. i need a few inches in the rear so i can get to full flex..i rub just a little, and if i had a inch or 3 i could clear.

idk if i want to get the shackle and then get springs or just do the bigger lift springs like you are debating

chevy springs and no blocks is stock ride height maybe a little more .5"?. added shackle will be another 1"-1.5" so it should be dang close.
