Ok guys, the time has come for the F-150 to be lifted. But I have a question before I get down to business.

What is all involved in installing front lift coils? I'm going to be installing 2" lift coils from skyjacker on the F-150 but want to make sure I am doing it right so I don't screw something up. I'm sure its a fairly simple project, just want to ask before I dive in. Thanks guys.

i remove the caliper and hang it up out of the way and also disconnect the sway bar so the Ibeam is easier to move down also when installing the new coils. really the hardest part is getting that stupid nut off that holds the washer that holds the coil down..

its been a while since i owned my 86 f-150 but if the shocks are on like the ranger heat the lower nut of the shock so the stud doesnt snap off on the Radii's arm.

 

Why just 2" coils?

 

if youre just doing 2 inches, why not the steel ford coil spacers? im sure theyre a lot cheaper?

 

with coils you dont have to use a longer bolt that retains the spring.. personally i would side with springs over spacers i have installed 5+ spacers and i would never do it agian..

 

spacers also throw the allignment out more than the coils would. plus the lift coils will have a stiffer spring to reduce the chance of the spring sagging verus the stock spring rate.

 

springs lift 2" spacers lift 2" they throw it off the same.. installed both, results where the same..
