Worst night of my life

so tonight im heading home from my girlfriends house and it had just snowed. so im traveling into my neighborhood and i hit a snowy patch and the truck slid around and caught the ditch and up and over it went onto the drivers side in the ditch. so basically i have a couple hundred bucks of damage to fix so i can drive my daily to school and work. this sucks i guess its a good thing i didnt drop that 500 bucks on the lift like i was planning this weekend now i have some money to try and fix it. as it sits now i need a front fender, a door, at least a bed side but maybe a whole bed, a mirror, tail lights, front turn signal, windshield. and that all i know as of right now at 3 am and my head is really starting to hurt now that the shock is going away. and they charged me 175 bucks to tow it to my house less than an 1/8th of a mile away. i was in my own subdivision. THIS SUCKS. ill get pics for you guys in the morning.

Would it help if I keep my eye out for body parts on ebay? I feel for you because I have had stupid things happen to my 98 and ended up with about 4k worth of damage that never should have happened.

Sorry to hear about the damage to the truck, but a least you didn't get hurt. Had it rolled over completely it would have been totalled, so there's some consolation there, too.

$175 for a 1/8 mile tow is nothing less than extortion. Do yourself a favor and get a Triple A Premier membership.

i got hit by a pool water truck from the side over the summer, and the side of bed needed to be like bondo'd i think, and i needed a new front left quarter panel, and a new driver side door. we got the quarter panel new and it was 200 bucks, and the used door was off a 94 ranger, and that was 100 bucks, and then my dad had one of his body work friend do the repairs. it cost around 850 bucks all together.

good luck to you man.

Go get a quote from your insurance, Just as a starting point. Chances are if you have not had alot of tickets or wreaks they may forgive this one. I know when I got in an accident that they never up'ed my rates. They said that if it is one every great once in a while, they understand and will not increase rates. If it is something that happens every other year, now there is a pattern and it will cost you. Butto me, looks like you have a few K worth of damage, being that the windshield cracked (assuming you didn't hit it) the cab is tweeked, the fender is a couple $$, the bed, another few $$, Get 3 quotes, It should show parts and labor. Look at what you can do and what you need the shop to do. Maybe you can save some bucks.

oh man that sucks ! I say just fix it enough so it drives good . that way when your on the trail you will have no fear of brush, trees , boulders, roll over, jumpin etc ! if you fix it all nice you will be worried about crushing in your rocker panels and scratchin it up .

Crappy luck, man. At least you weren't hurt! Things can be fixed or replaced! Lives cannot!

Back on the road!?!? I doubt there's anything preventing it from being driveable! If that's your DD, just stick it out and replace a few lights. The damaged fender and bed won't make it illegal or dangerous to drive! It may not LOOK pretty for a while, but that'll just give you time to scan the local junk yards for another fender and bedside!

thanks for all the comments guys. im ok ive got a bruised rib though. yeah i dont think we're reporting this to the insurance company. i only have liability on it so i wouldnt get anything. if i had collision im pretty sure they would total it. the b pillar is the only part of the cab messed up and im gonna get the body shop at work to do it. i get a discount on labor time and i can save a lot more by gutting the interior by myself. we busted *** all day and got this thing back on the road. as it sits now it has no bumper, no front fenders, no bed and i put the 35s on it so i wouldnt have to have the bald *** 31s back on it that caused this accident. it basically looks like brentons truck but smaller and black. im gonna drive it like this for a while. the only part im concerning myself with fixing is the cab the fenders and bed i can get junk yard cheaper and do it myself. the motor had one cylinder completly hydrolocked with oil and the intake manifold was full and there was oil coming out the filter this morning. but its running and driving and back on the road. ill keep you guys updated and get some more pics tomorrow.

It may pay for you to go find a whole parts truck, one with a good left side and bed.
The cab can be pulled back into shape but that will take someone who has some experience. The door, fender and bumpers are cheap, either new or used.

I just priced a used or take-off bed here, the best price I could find on a good used bed was $1200. There were some cheaper one's but they needed as much work as the one I was replacing. (I ended up fixing the old bed with new parts). The best place to find a good bed is usually a truck body place, one that installs utility bodys and such, they will most likely have a new take off for sale, it's better than a well used older bed from the junk yard, and they usually come with tailights too.
You should be able to get away with a newer bed as well, I know the tailgates all swap from 1993 and up.

I've seen high milage Rangers pretty cheap, most often not running. For what you need, you don't even need it to be a 4x4. The only difference in the fenders is a few holes for the flares.

You may want to try an aftermarket sheetmetal source if your trying to save a few bucks. They were cheaper than good used here. The junk yard wanted $150 for a fender, I paid $40 per fender, $75 for each door for new aftermarket metal. A buddy who owns a body shop got me the parts. The fit was ok, good enough for an older truck. I would have prefered all Ford sheetmetal, either new or used, but there was no way I was paying that much for used metal, unless maybe if it were the right color, which it wasn't. (The truck had two worn door hinges and someone let it catch the fender and forced them both open. The bed and tailgate had some bad bondo repair work on the one corner so I replaced the rear half of the quarter panel and the tailgate. I straightened the two bumpers as well. The most expensive part was the paint supplies, by the time I was done buying filler, primer, hardener, seam sealer, adhesives, sandpaper, etc it really added up quick. I didn't keep a tally, but I figured around $900 for the paint and supplies. The body parts were cheap, it just took a few nights work and some welding.

The worst part was that after it was all done, I found a parts truck for sale for $400 that would have given me everything I needed except the door hinges. It was even the right color. (I bought it anyway, it's out back waiting for me to get around to fixing it).
