single cab owners...

i have a question for you. what made u decide to get a single cab vs. extended cab? it just seems logical to me to have the extra room, especially cince we have mini trucks. was it the cost? or some other reason? i'm not tryin to make fun of u or tell u u're an idiot for doing it, i'm just curious.

well...for me.. my jeep fell apart...sold it for scrap went to the dealership....they had a while 2002 XLT 2wd Extended Cab Auto with a 3.0 and i hate autos and then there was a 2002 XLT reg cab 2.3 5 Speed.. and i got it cause it had a 5 speed and it did looks begter than all the rest of the rangers on the lot and the price diffrences between the to the extended cab was around 11,000 and the reg cab with only 20,000 miles on it cost 8,000 even...so i think i got a good deal on my truck and i love it but thats why i don't have a extended cab lol

Got the truck as a gift. Had no choice. But now that I think about it I would rather have a regular cab. Extended cab is too much for me especially with the lowered look. Lowered regular cabs look so much better in my opinion.

I had plenty of room for me, a passenger, a 12" sub, and 2 amplifiers in my old regular cab. Well plenty may be the wrong word, more like Just enough room. It wasn't cramped, but it wasn't spacious. I primarily got my '03 in regular cab because that was my first new vehicle purchase, and I needed to keep the costs down to a minumum. I thought I could swing the 4.0l, but not in 2003.

I liked it though, but now that I'm used to the super cab, I won't go back. I doubt I'll would even look at a regular cab in a full size truck.

The dealership had a choice between a silver extended cab styleside ranger or my silver regular cab stepside. The extended cab was about $2,000 more, which I figued was a bit steep for a few more inches of cab. They also had some extended cab stepsides on the lot, but frankly I thought they looked funny.

I had a 1986 F-150 that i restored was t-boned I solded it because I didnt want to restore it twice so i bought my older neighbors Escort GT for $1000 it only had 60000 orginal miles and looked new and then she bought a Jag so i had a reliable car well about 9 months of owning it I was sitting at a light and a Chevy full size truck PLOWED into me doing 55mph I was stoped. so i had no car well i knew i wanted a truck agian, and the only thing i could afford was this truck well acully I found a steal, all the 4cyl rangers around here were going for around $3500 with over 100000 miles well i found this truck for $3200 with 52000 orginal miles and it was from GA so no rust and it always just sat in a garage all the time, becuase the guy who owned it was in the Marines so he was never home. I love my truck even though it is a Reg Cab, yes i want a Ext Cab but at the time that was all the money I had. My next truck WILL be ext cab, even if its a F-250 which i want or another ranger which I will only get a FX4 if I get another ranger.

I've had supercabs, and I just filled them with junk all the time. I figured since they're not big enough to carry people in, I didn't need it. I got a bed cover and now I can throw all my "junk" in the bed. Plus reg. cabs are cheaper, lighter, and more manuverable (shorter wheelbase/smaller turning radius.)

The only downside to getting a regular cab is that the 4.0L is not available.

Hey, I even went off roading with this super cool, super cute chick riding on a jump seat in my supercab.
Quite the trooper she never complained even once, not even when her head was banging against the back window in tune to the woop-de-doos. :D

I would definately get a full size in a regular cab to slam. Those look so bad ***. But I know a lot of you aren't into the whole lowering scene.

Agreed. I'd prefer not to have an ext cab, but depends on the truck, and the color and what you want it to look like after some ext mods are done.

They don't anymore. Q has a 4.0L single cab as well, his is an 01 I believe. Even when you could get the 4.0L single cab, it was only available w/ an automatic transmission, and I'm a big manual fan.

(clarification: in the 4.0L OHV days you could get reg. cabs with the 4.0L and a stick, at least in the 7' bed configuration. I had one of those, a 1997 model year.)

What it boils down to is that its possible for me to swap motors later, but I can't go back and get the difference in price back that I'd have paid extra to get a supercab I didn't want just to get the 4.0L.

They are fast extremePC, I beat a Turbo PT Cruiser GT until 90mph the other night. pissed me off I had a half a car length too.
