New Truck??? (pics!!!)

I work at a car dealership and we just got a great trade in. It is a 99 ranger, 3.0 or 4.0, dunno, auto, 3 inch body lift and 31 inch thornturds which are completly bald! Anyhow, it runs and looks good, so I thought, hey maybe I'll get this. I don't know what engine it has, I'm thinking the 3.0 but either way I took a pic so you guys could possibly tell me what it is. What would you pay for a truck like this? It has 91000 miles on it. I was told that the price is gonna be close to 6000 bucks! I don't have that and I personally don't think it is worth it. Let me know what you think!

And on another note, my buddy got his b2 stuck in the snow last night. Didn't get home till 1:30, then I got up and went back to work to finish detailing "my" truck or the ranger! LOL!

I used to work at car dealership, and if they are telling you that they are selling it for 6k, that only means that they took it in for like 3k. So before you buy it, talk to your manager and ask what they took it in for and just pay that.

Its a sweet truck, but better meats on there and nicer rims and you are golden...Good luck

I paid 6K for a 98 version of that truck, with 30,000 less miles and a 4.0. I don't really think it's worth that. Plus that BL and bald 31's should bring the price down even more.

I bought my 00 6 months ago for 5600 after tax......4cyl and 138k miles on it when I bought it.........it was exactly what I wanted, thats why I paid more for it.......if it was just a regular ranger with a color like white or something, I wouldn't have bought it for that much.

I think I'm just gonna hold off and look around, unless he offers like 3000 or 3500. Then I may change my mine. It is exactly what I want except no, 4.0 or 5 speed. My parents woln't let me lift my b2, and wouldn't let me lift a ranger if I got one. But will let me buy this already lifted one, go figure. Oh, yeah, it has a tailgate, the guy who had it had a net tailgate on it and took it with him. The one hinge for the tailgate is off, we have it, but we don't have the "nut" that holds the hinge to the truck, we have bolts, no nuts or whatever is back there. It needs a new tailgate though, it musta started eating out and he painted it primer, we painted it green where he had primer, looks okay from a distance. I'd probly go to a junkyard to get one or just a net would be fine. I wouldn't be doing much heavy hauling to need a tailgate, would be nice to have one though. So I'm off ranger hunting tomorrow, 4.0, 5 speed, 4x4 and what are the best gears they came with? I'm guessing 4.10 L/S, like the b2s?

i wouldnt pay 6 for that. mine is a 99 reg cab 3.0 4x4 offroad, and when i got it it had 100k on it, and i paid 4000 and it was in mint condition. but that does look like a nice clean truck, and if i read your post correctly, you did say the tires were bald? this could mean there was a lot of tire spinning action which would lead me to believe that this truck has suffered some sort of abuse.

anyways, good luck
mike

Yeah, the tires are bald, but they are severly cupped. It needs aligned like I need to win the lottery! They are thornturds as well, suck on and off road and wear like its going out of style. I'd get some bfgs or something. I've never seen that truck covered in mud when the previous owner had it. It may have been beat, but it still runs good and looks good, I'll think about it. And yes, 6000 is way too much, I wouldn't pay anymore than 4000.

u mean to tell me u work at the dealer and they wouldnt give it to u at cost? wow that sucks. i work at a dealer and anything we get i can get at cost. we have a few rangers...nice ones at that. but with me havin a kid on the way i would have one. i would have a 05 black fx4 rockin some mt classic IIs but then again its not worth it to trade it for a family sedan plus i need something good with gas. back on topic no its not worth 6k

Well, I went truck shopping today and found nothing in my price range that was worth looking at. But, I did continue my search tonight on the internet, after a well diserved nap, and I found one of the nicest done rangers I have ever seen in my life. I think I might call tomorrow to find out more about it. I still think that 5000 for a 96 is a little high as well. Why am I finding all these sweet trucks that are overpiced! Grrrrr!

Anyhow, here is the link to the truck. Nobody better buy it! Unless they plan on giving it to me! LOL! Thanks for all the responses!
