I have a 2000 xlt 3.0, 4x4. I know that it says 90-94 ranger maybe it could still fit my 2000. Any imput would be appreciated.

 

Chances are that it will not fit. Even if it did fit, you would get a check engine light when you eliminate the cats. It won't make your truck any faster or your fuel economy any better.

I would get it if I could make it so my check engine light wouldn't come on. I'd get the O2 simulators.

 

When i cut mine out seems to give me alot better milage. Dunno might just be in my head though. If ur gunna do it just go to a muffler shop they will do it if u know them well enough. For like 25 bucks. The hell with 75 isnt worth that just leave em in there for 75 bucks.

 

Not really.....its Illegal in most states to not have a cat.....

I gutted mine on my car, but if anything im getting a high flow for my truck....

If any exhaust shop gets caught installing a gutted cat / test pipe they will be closed down....

Losing mileage by removing the or a cat(s) dosent make sense to me.

Installing an performance aftermarket exhaust, such a borla/magnaflow, you usually would see an increase in fuel economy due to less back pressure, correct?

So, by removing the cats, back pressure is decreased.

The only thing that i could see decreasing your mileage would be with the o2 sensors and the check engine light. But if they were turned off, i see no problem except a truck that wouldn't pass an emmissions test.

 

with no 02 sensor it has no idea how much fuel is being burn, or how much fuel it needs to add, so it will run rich. just like Nick's truck covering my truck with fuel coming out the exhaust when he had no cats. most of the CATs are there for a reason, plus they are high flow already, no need to remove them.

 

Nicks truck wasnt tuned correctly when that happened either, he even admitted that.

Look at 75% of the mustangs running around. They are running catted h/x pipes and not running rich. Even the newer 4.0 mustangs have no problems running catted pipes.

 

On my 4cyl car that had a gutted cat.....it had no back pressure and ended up blowing my motor 3 times, finally rebuilt it, instead of getting junkyard motors.....ended up blowin the valve seals....

Thats why test pipes arent for me....

maybe so, but for them to try and make an excuse for you to buy something "before its too late!" is lame...any auto shop in the world could make that pipe for you

 

Yea Muffler shop would be in deep ****. But some of them will do it anyway if they know u wont say nothing bout them. Good thing bout living in alabama bunch of red necks that dont care bout the polution lol. Had mine out for 2 years now nothing bad has happened. When i go 55 down the trace heading to nashville i usually get around 27 mpg with no ac and the windows up. Truck dont burn a drop of oil it runs good. Its just loud and raspy without the cats. U will notice a big change in sound.
