Pulley question

I'd like to get an underdrive pulley, but I don't want the charging system to suffer. If I were to get the underdrive AND overdrive pulleys, would that cancel out each pulleys performance gains? Also, would I need to get a new belt if I got both pulleys, or would they're size differences from stock make that unnecessary?

Already searched, couldn't find it.

either option would need a new belt. On the alt pulley, it will cancell out the underdrive on the alternator. All other components will be underdriven except the alternator.

or you could not get the alternator pulley and get yourself a SCT XCalibrator 2 and bump the rpm's of the truck up to around 1000 rpm's and your charging problems would be solved........

that is what i did to mine atleast...

I'd like Underdog to start carrying some 5.0 parts! I know if they had underdrive pulleys for it, I'd order some right now!

Got the Bama from Doug. Won't bumping up the RPM's eat more gas?

Yes and more importantly it'll heat up the tranny fluid quicker in stop and go driving.

btw, with just a crank underdrive I've had no issues at all. Even running the radio, lights, wipers, AC on max, and the e-fan on 100%. At idle the voltage drops and if left idling like that for extended time it would run it down. But.. who would ever really do that? I turn the e-fan off and the volts are fine.

btw2, All my local store had was a 85" belt. It's been working fine but I really ought to run a 84" one to get the tensioner back to the stock location.

Cool. I saw Underdog has a three pulley kit with the belt for $195. Might as well do it up right!
