Loss of Traction

I'm a new '04 4x4 Ranger owner, coming from an Audi A4 1.8T Quattro. My truck has 65K miles and the original Goodyear Tires with a decent bit of tread left on them. I find that with moderate application of throttle on wet roads from a stop, the rear (passenger I believe) tire breaks loose. Is this normal ? Is it because I have still have the original (not so good) tires ?

tires are worn out......happens on some tires, after a certain amount of time they don't get good wet traction. my uncles truck had some michelin tires on it and they had about 35% tread life left and there was no traction on wet roads from a stop.

get some new tires and it will fix the problem.

^Ditto

Those tires cause accidents. Racing slicks are a better choice then those RT/S's. Having an open diff. will cause that one wheel spin. I still spin with my Toyo's only on uphill starts, gotta learn to start slow.

If you dont mind me asking why no more Audi love?

I have Toyo's too and I spin on uphill starts. Just have to learn to be gentle with the throttle like Brandon said.

Yes, I have the Wrangler RT/S and they are on their last leg. I figured they weren't the greatest tires. Thinking of replacing with Pirelli Scorpion.

I remember going from my Toyo A/t's that had no tread to some general tires that had a good amount of tread and the toyo's still did better than the generals in anything.

You can replace the Goodyears with anything and it'll be better than what you've got.

Wait till you have to make an emergency stop. lol

Get rid of the Goodyears.

It doesn't help that you are coming from all-wheel-drive to one-wheel-drive either. lol

As the overwhelming majority has already said, those Wrangler RT/S tires are worthless junk.

Forgot about that lol. My fiberglass stepside bed has no weight. lol Maybe thats why I like my dad's F-150 it handles better than my truck, even with an 8' bed.

BTW - Do they only offer the crappy RT/S's on the Rangers?
