2008 XLT Driving/(Fog) lights.

My new one came with ugly grills in the holes in the bumper where these things go. I want to add the lights. Anybody have any info on this mod? I believe it uses the same light that's on many other Ford trucks in the year/range of the latest group. How about where to buy them? Any help appreciated.

well, the obvious place is the dealership. but they cost over $160 for a set. or check out e-bay in the fog light section. or the ford ranger section.

 

on the 04-07 trucks...the foglight buckets are there....you could cut a hole and mount the brackets and make it look stock. FMD has a how-to.....but i can't find the link....PM him. I'm sure the same is true to the 08 round light trucks.

I got my set on ebay, inact i went thru two sets already. The truck isnt prewired for the lights, however the switch connector is there behind the dash. I totally by passed it tho. I used 14awg outdoor extension cord. and ensured to leave enuff slack on the front so that if there was ever a problem, i could fix it with the extra wire. This has come in handy since I had 'issues' with the driverside socket for the light, water was getting in and causing it to short. I made custom slpash gaurds to protect the backside of the fog lights, keeps debris being whipped off the front tires from impacting the back side of the fog lights. havent had a problem since.

when u do it, the outside corner where your valance bends around is gonna be a real btch. if ur valance is painted, it might be better to take the valance off and do it that way. I had to detach the valance on both sides and carefully bend the valance out to get the bolt and nut into the right spot of the valance. tho the second set i put in, was alot easier, i cant remember why but i know it was a piece of cake, where as the first time i did it was very frusterating.

the way i did it, allows me to drive with JUST the fog lights on, its nice for sneaking around. However I tried to make a switch to turn my brake lights off to complete the whole 'sneaking around' deal, and ended up breaking some doohicky and then the truck wouldnt come out of park... LOL
