hello i am looking at a ranger but the guy sell ing it says that it dosnt go over 3000rpm and thinks its got to do with the computer or cat.
does any one have any sudgestions?

Something is not right in a big way. It's either not breathing properly, has a bad miss, or is being starved of fuel.

That is.. if in neutral it won't rev past 3k. If your talking about in gear.. then it could be a dragging brake or something.

ok i just got off the phone with the guy and he said he pretty sure that its the computer because the 4 wheel drive dosent work all the time ,
it got the 4.0 auto and its a 2002 xlt extended cab 4 door
i havnt looked at it yet but plan too this weekend so if you can tell me what to look for or how to rule things out that would be good .
also he said it wont go over 50 .

Yeah, dont bother.. save yourself in the long run.. find a truck that works... The guy is doing you a favor telling you whats wrong with it.. and you coudl spend thousands tracking it down adn fixing stuff for it.
