Post up the shock you've had the best experience with. This isn't a whose better than who thread I just want to know what you guys have had good luck with.

 

i LOVE my stock replacement bilsteins.......the same ones on FX4L2's! I am getting The 5125 or 5150 when i do the sas.

 

Are they more geared toward offroad, towing, or road driving. I want something that will ride great on the road but still do good offroad or with a ton of weight in the bed.

MonoMax's, built specifically for vehicles with a high center of gravity. High dampening rate, best offroad shock I have seen in action(between rancho, bilstein, skyjacker and monroe). As for pavement manners, hardly any body roll around curves, no nose dive while braking, but I will say they are STIFF as all git out. Once I installed all of mine, it auctually raised the truck bout 1/2 inch.

I cant really give an unbiased opinion on the matter, but that is only because I have never personally used Bilstiein's.. but I can say, from my personal experience with MonoMax.. its been fantastic so far. You know that wheel hop you get from having our light trucks and going over a tall speed-bump in a parking lot and feeling the rear tires let out soon as they hop over it and the gas pulses a bit? The monomax keeps the tires on my truck glued to the ground.. and I can barely feel it in the body as I pop up and over it. As well as the no nose diving on the braking.. and steering quality..

They are stiff though, thats the only "bad" part I hear anyone give out for it, but if you want somethign that performs with a ton of weigh tin the back, going down a bumpy road, with a trailer strapped to yoru rear end.. all you need is a good set of brakes, and a pack of Monomax's installed in your truck

im going be getting pro comp es3000s later today. i dont offroad so i dont need a heavy duty shock, plus i dont want to spend 30$ more per shock for the KYBs or the Bilsteins for a 2wd

 

Thats understandable, no need in spending money for shocks that wont be used for what they are built for.

 

I previously complained that my new KYB Monomax shocks were to bouncy in the front. I have sence realized I had a broken sway bar link. Replaced it earlier in the week and they are now acting as I was expecting them to.

So I retract my complaint.

My family owns a feed mill and I regularly will deliver a ton of horse feed to customers with my truck. With the old Monroes I would be sitting on the bump stops and would get horriable swaying at anything faster that 40 mph. With the MonoMax's they are compressed about 1/2-3/4 of the way and don't hit the bump stops unless I hit a bad pothole. Also the swaying is eliminated.

They are stiff, but not unbearable.
