Whats available to tune the computer for a 4.0OHV

 

i highly recommend a XCalibrator 2 by SCT......as long as you have a '95+ OBD II compliant truck, you can get one.......

i recommend getting it from Wayne at www.stuffforyourranger.com ......he is a prefered vendor on this and other Ranger sites....he gets all his tunes and tuners from Fred at Rouge Performance who is a good tuner.....i got my current tune from Fred and I am really impressed with his customer service and skill....

 

I've got and X-cal 2 and agree. Give Wayne/Fred a try.

Can you tune the shift points on an auto tranny with the 1998 OHV or is that year ranger too early for that?
How much of a difference do you notice with the X-Cal 2?

 

yes you can adjust the shift points.....

i noticed a huge difference in my automatic w/ the X2.....it had quite a bit more power with the 93 Torque tune....

 

this is interesting...can this also be done on a 00?

I have the Xcal 3 with custom troyer tunes and its litteraly like driving an entirely differant truck, normal driving you dont notice much differance other than firmer shifts, but put that peddal on the floor and you unleash the beast at hand

I just want someone to clarify this for me.
So the shift points isn't a concrete tune, it allows you to ajust them yourself?
If you advance the timing do you need a higher octane fuel?
When would you change the air/fuel ratio?
Is there a tuner that lets you datalog and design tunes rather than have someone else do it?

 

The Xcal 2 will allow you to do all of which you asked in your first paragraph
As far as the rest of your questions call up Troyer performance and they will be able to answer your questions better than I can, they are experts in this area and should be more than happy to answer your questions-I have heard nothing but good about them

 

so what if u have an obd1 but u want a tuner is there anything that would work
