body lift vs. suspension lift
body lift vs. suspension lift
hey guys. i dont kno much about the pros and cons of a body lift versus a suspension lift. so i was hoping someone could help me out. wut kind of lift do u have? if u could do it again would u do it differently? why? stuff like that.
thanx. =)

body lift is mainly for looks or fitting bigger tires
suspension lift allows more clearance and wheel travel and also larger tires
both together would allow for a even larger tires and still have the performance of a suspension lift

Well, For my truck ive got a 3" BL and a 4" SL.. That will give me plenty of clearance.. and ive got 35" BFG MT's...but youve got to think if you are going to be getting bigger tires, you have to get diff. gears.. for example.. my truck has 3.73's stock.. i am putting 4.56 in to compinsate for the 35's
I'm runnin 32's with 3.73 gears and it ain't bad, still has plenty of power.
An open diff means that only one wheel recieves power, you'll want to get a limited slip or a locker once you start wheelin it.

limited slip can be found at a junk yard for as little as 50 bucks
locker is gonna cost abit more and your gonna have to order it
you dont really need them but with open diff's you only have power to 2 wheels when in 4wd, the passenger rear and drivers front
with L/S or lockers you have power to all 4, I recommend limited slip if its your DD and your only a "weekend off-roader"
3.73's will work with 32's
you just wont have AS much "get up and go" but you will still have plenty of power to spin the 32's

Im gonna have to disagree about suspension lifts giving more clearance, all they do is use drop brackets or whatever you call them. The only thing that really give more clearance is the fact that you have bigger tires on.
Body lift never gives more clearance
Unless you think about moving the internals up an inch.. yoru axel will stay the same size... unless you look at an RCD Lift.. gets rid of alot of stuff under there and provides a bit more undercarriage clearance.

and your frame will sit higher with a suspension lift, isnt that a form of more clearance?
