Body Lift storage?

since im doing a bodylift, there is a ton of space underneath. since people have to weld in blocks to get the bed more support to haul the actual limit. couldnt i just making a small box and put it across the fram. maybe put my straps and **** in there without worrying?

That's a damn good idea. Like have an opening door in the bed to access it, or may be a drawer or something. Awesome idea!

I think its a fantastic idea, a nice slide out shelf, 3 inches tall roughly give or take, plenty of room for full recovery gear.

ill grab some metal and ill look into it and take measurements. i want to be able to still haul the recommended weight so i thought this would be perfect.

So how much is the load rating supposed to be reduced? My box doesn't sit on the frame all the way along the way it is now and i've had the springs curved down before with no problems... Just curious because my lift goes on tonight.....

it looks kinda heavy, and it'ld be a little nicer enclosed i think.

i like it a lot tho, looks better as mesh.

I love it!

If I had the tools and more importantly the skill, I'd SO do that!

Storage space is something that was always lacking in my old 90 ranger. I really liked when the tundras (or was it the titans) that had those storage compartments on the outside rear corner of the bed.

Me and a friend had this kind of idea a while back. He put a body lift on his longbed Dodge. Being a contractor, he always has ladders on the truck. So we made a compartment under the bed the fit the entire 8ft ladder which slid out the back when needed. It was a lot of work because we had to move around a few things but it turned out awesome! Its a wonderful idea!

I couldnt see any reason not to just the the entire underbed out, install a custom box along the entire bottom of the bed of the truck, put some compartments in it so things dont shift around.. build an 1/8" sheet metal "top" on it for the bottom of yoru bed, get it all rhinolined.. put some hydraulic lifts on it, and make the handle only accessible when the tailgate is down and/or off. That way you woudl have a 4 footx 8 foot box all along the back to fit 'anything' you wanted. Hell, that actualyl sounds fantastic, and I may look into doing somethign like that eventually myself

Yah, that is awesome...

Woodsrider on RPS and TRS has things like shovels, axes, and I think his hi-lift under his bed cuz of his body lift...

For me, I've got air horns!
