depends on state law

Here in Missouri it is 35% on driver passenger window and % on back windows

I got 25% and then 5% onthe rest of windows never any trouble with the law

total for me $145

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN CALIFORNIA?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In California, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

You can legally tint your entire car in California. The law states that you may tint your rear side windows and the back window as dark or as light as you want as long as you have a rear view mirror on both sides of the car. (Virtually every car manufactured in the last 10 years will have two mirrors).
My guess is 30% is legal on front windows in California

You can't tint the front windows in California. But who listens? My friends has limo all around his taco and he never gets pulled over. I'm getting tint in the front windows on the 7th. I'm going as dark as the factory tint in the back.

You can tint the front windshield but Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield

That means it cant be that chrome style tint has to be dull black

Why would you want to tint anymore than 4" on the windowshield? So dumda$$ did that on my truck when I bought it. It was right at eye level and I hated it.

No law is Must allow more than 70% so take 100%-70% and it comes to 30%

No legal tint would be 30% U have 35% tint you would be breaking the law with 20% tint

But really who cares everyone has illegal tint. just roll the windows down if you get pulled over. most cops are not even gonnabother you.

Ive never seen someone pulled over forjust the tint itusally for more than that.

Cop wants to be a ***** and start writing things up that are illegal

I read that there was no tint allowed on the front windows. All well. Like I care. I'm getting tint but I'm going as dark as the rear factory tint. I don't see a pint to limo all the way around.

Nah dude, CA law actually says you can't have anything darker than 70% (or 75%) which is the darkness of the windows out of factory. So you can't legally add any tint on top of that.

I have had my front two windows tinted at 35% for a while now, it's pretty light, still easy to see inside, I've been all around cops, not a single problem.

Obviously the darker the tint, and the more stereotypes your truck fits under (such as putting a big pot sticker on the back window) will effect how often, or if ever, you get pulled over for tint.

Hey Christian, when I was looking at tinting I found out the back window is 18% and every place I went to only have 15% or 20% to match it.

So basically you have to decide between a little lighter, or a little darker. I'm not sure if you already know what your getting, but since your getting it the 7th you should have time to think about it if you haven't already.

Well I'd get a bit lighter then. The place I went to had one that looked like it matched the rear.
