got a birfday present

Today is my brifday and my bro came over with a nice present for me. His old 96 Ranger, aka my first car. Seems to run well and it's clean.

Anyways here's some pictures.

Just a daily driver. I've already ordered some new speakers for the doors and rear, that should help me a bunch as I can't stand bad music quality or the lack of music.

Besides that one of the o2 sensors is broken but I'll probably go get a replacement tomorrow.

Yep a very nice bro. He's now driving a 2006 or 7 Honda Civic Si (the faster one). He kept this one at his in-laws house for the past year and before that it was sitting in his drive way in North Carolina.

It's the 4 banger 2.3.

He's now out of the Marines and works for some lawyer firm.

The only problem I've had is starting in 1st gear and not having a tach to see how much I'm revving it. I'm going to have to get it down to feel because there's no way to tell by sound if I have music on.

That gauge cluster does seem pretty sparse.

As for your armrest, mine cracked down the middle so I riveted an aluminum plate inbeteen the plastic and foam and now it doesn't pop open by itself. So I guess you could wiegh it down or use some sticky velcro.

You will get the hang of no tach. You don't really need one. It is all in the feel.

Yep. Just have to go get some more practice today.

As for the arm rest I think I'm going to go get some good earth magnets to put where the clasp usually goes.

The speakers I ordered should be here Thursday which is good because that's the day I get my license. Then tomorrow I think I'm going to see about changing the oil and getting the o2 sensor replaced. Then maybe ditching the mud flaps.

Well I looked at the oil and smelled it and tasted it and it seemed fine so I let it be. Then I've decided to let the o2 sensor until I get back from nc in a few weeks (not driving so don't worry). Also I've pretty much gotten the stick down, drove around town today and didn't stall, so that's good.

I also took the mud flaps off. Not only does it look better imo, but also according to my calculations I will save a good 50mpg and lose 3 seconds off my 0-60 time.
