4.0 SOHC milage

I hear people getting about 20+ with their 4.0's i was wondering what gearing they have because with my 4.10s 32x11.5 and 5spd auto i can barely manage 19 even when it was on stock tires i do have a K&N filter, and i should change my fuel filter. So what are you running and what should I do different other than getting rid of my lead foot?

I get 16-19 maybe a little better on the highway. My right foot is pretty heavy.

I get 19 mpg at 90 mph =]

But hmm.. I get roughly 19 - 20 average and most of my driving is city driving.. 35 - 55 mph.

Uh highway 55 - 70 mph i push 22 or 23..

I have just a k&n, bosch +4 plugs, and magna flow exhaust. I also shift at 2200 - 3000 rpm always.

I am right now at 155 miles on a half a tank. So i am hoping to get 310 or so to this tank of gas being it goes down faster in the beginning to me.

Other than that dont excel fast and keep a constant speed..

yeah i usually hit 125 at half a tank which they say is 16gal I've managed to to fit 19 (cutting it close) and i barely pushed 310 on the trip. I do have the bosch plugs platinum plus 4 and beldin wires (had a flashing check engine light a 80mph and 5,000 :D but i figured that out) I've talked to some flowmaster guys they said i shouldn't cut any of my (4) cats out of the exhaust cuz i lose power and mileage. He also said that a cold air intake won't make a difference compaired to just the k&n. and that i should get a cat back exhaust (imagine that...) and i should see gains that way too. i was thinking of just choping out my muffler and putting a 40 series in its place.

Well.. Volant Cold Air i have heard of 2 -3 mpg.. Thats what i am putting on my truck soon. And I will let you know results. Dont cut cats unless your going to a whole new exhaust that is header back i actually have two threads on this PM me for more info. A magnaflow exhaust will open some flow but i would say the cheapest mod is a light foot.

yeah my budget isn't really big mainly cuz of college but i've been looking at mods for it, I've found a few headers for it (doesn't have egr) so the next big mod i was looking at was the flowmaster cat back, but thats like 380$ from the shop in town which is alot for me right now, know of any better/cheaper kits. I've found one on summit racing for up to 94 with the same set up as mine just wondering if i could modify to fit cuz that was only like 120$ or so if i remember right

My magna flow was 190 installed.

But anyhow cheap mpg.. Well.. Dont throttle Body space. - its a waste.

volant intake is good.

Most of these guys know more than me though.. i just drive really slow and get 20 so i am happy as can be.

i guess what more can you ask for, and i usually drive city and highway so between 25-35 and 45-65 (well thats the speed limits) and i can with a light foot get 17-18, i think i'll start with the fuel filter for now.

Hmmm.. What elevation are you at? I know your up north there but that makes a difference too..

hotter wires could help with your plugs.. fuel filter isnt bad idea.

There are alot of post about mods though..

if you go into my profile look at threads i have posted and look up my project for my truck there is alot of info and parts there and even pricing.

Yeah i posted alot of threads about all sorts of mods that maybe easier to read than posting a million threads if you need info just ask though.

On pure highway at 70mph, I can almost get 23mpg. Normal city I get 17/18, but my right foot feels heavy sometimes.

I an running 30's with 3.55 gears and my auto.

Its wierd, my MPG have been steadily increasing as my truck "breaks in" Originally, I was getting around 13 mpg or so when I put my 33"s tires on (when the truck was brand new). now its gone up to around 17 or so average. On the freeway at 65 mph, i get around 20 or so if its level. I have 3.73 gearing btw.

I get about 20.5 - 21 highway. I have a 4.0 5 spd. manual. 4.10:1 gears. My mods are in my profile. Too may to list in this post. Stock tires and suspension, factory hard tonneau cover. Shifting around 2500 - 3000 rpm.
