Door Ajar? [24/7]
Door Ajar? [24/7]
so my door ajar light stays on 24/7 for some reason no clue why.... but because of that i had to take the cab light fuse out so the lights not on 24/7... same thing happened with my frens ranger... shes got a 97 and ive got a 98... any ideas?
the door latch,,, in the door. If that's made of metal, black, and tab shaped, then yes.
We had to call Ford to find the door sensor, it's built into the latching mechanism inside the door.
My advice, don't overdue it. give it a squirt or 2, open and close the door a few times and see what happens.

If the WD-40 wears off or doesn't work you can also try some white lithium grease in a spray can. The store brand wanna-be WD-40 "multi-purpose spray lube" evaporated and stopped working after about a week. I used the white lithium spray grease after that and haven't had the problem since (been about 4 or 5 months now I think).
mine stuck a bit for a while on and off then became 24/7... but i just tried wd40 and it did nothing.... any other ideas?
try it again, i had to drench mine. slam the doors hard a few times after you apply the wd-40.
idk i guess my doors are shot... i drive around in floods alot being all the hurricanes in Florida... plus it doesnt help that i like to go around everyone ***** footing around and go through it :p i bet the inside of my doors are full of rust and mud lol... i no the last time i cleaned the bottom of my truck [ i only clean the underside after going to the beach don't liek the salt] i found lots of different weeds and plants actually growing... in the mud caked on my truck...
so i pulled the fuse as well to stop the batt. from draining.
drenching both door latches with wd-40 and slamming both doors a bunch of times cured it.
i think the problem on mine was the passenger door because it gets way less use normally...
i think that would be a good idea.....nothing to lose by trying
