4.0 vs 4.3

Yeah i beat a chevy 4.3l on my way home from work tonite.
it was stock jus like mine. I didnt know my truck had that much power, but i sware since i did the throttle mod that bich is fast as hell!

lol...no...this thread can go two ways: either a racing thread that people say 'i raced this and beat it" or it could be a "my thottle cable mod added 20hp!". lol.

if your looking for something to do for awhile then i suggest you also find more things to do aswell because it takes all of 2 minutes LOL. go under your dash and check the play in your gas peddle, its stretched throttle cable, put some zip ties at the top until your peddle has no more slack on it

i raced a viper after i did my throttle cable mod with my 3.0 and my god that viper had a hard time keeping up

oh. i really dont have any slack in my pedal. i dont think so at least. maybe i do cause when im goin down the road and i push the gas a little more it doesnt speed up any then if i slowly keep pushing my rpms jump up like 3k or more

yeah the 4.3 just doesn't seem to run as well as a 4.0.

maybe the guy in the 4.3L wasnt really trying or didnt no how to drive.... im sry but a 4.3L is gunna walk all over the 4.0L no questions asked.

not at all! the size doesnt mean that much! the Mitsu Evo Has like 310 hp and its a 2.0! and the 4.3 chevy is much heavier then the ranger! so that .3 has to push alot more weight faster. I did the TC mod and it gave me about 20 hp.. 3 zipties... on my 2.5L but its not like your adding 20 hp its just that youve been driving and not pushing your truck all the way this whole time..

I beat my buddys 99 Sonoma w/ the 4.3 vortec heads up. We were on a back road by his farm, no one around. Both automatics. Atleast the 4.0 OHV, idk about the SOHC. But yeah, not trying to tell everyone I'm Tony Stewart or anything, just the facts.

Honestly i left my opinion vague so as not to start this stuff..haha, I guess i should of mentioned the only 4.3's I have driven/raced was a 02 Zr2, drove and raced it 1/8 mile versus my truck. Beat it two times in a row. And the other was an early nineties half ton and it was the carbed version.

hahaha the TC mod isnt giving u +20hp... its just giving u true WOT and a better throttle response... but ya'll can say whatever u want, its the internet.

ya understood it doesn't have to be called hp or anything but i accelerate much faster i can spin the rear wheels with much less pedal and when i floor it my scan gauge says 100% now instead of 86% So i guess i wont call it hp then just speed?

I drive a 4.3 (oldsmobile, SUV NOT mine) and my ranger 4.0. I can say the 4.0 is much faster, but the 4.3 isnt a push over either, those are pretty powerful engines... And i dislike GM very much lol.. just to throw it out there.. Ford 4.0 SOHC FTW! And im going to give that zip tie thing another try.. Should i use just 1 small zip tie? How much slack should be taken out? I'd think having it too tight could snap something.. Anyone know of this?

I raced a Tacoma with a TRD supercharger and we stayed nose and nose the whole race .. so i would say 4.0's have ***** and as for the 4.3's most are auto vs my manual its not even funny.. they have power but not enough to hold out.
