ARB and the Ford Ranger.

I was on the ARB website (they sell the awesome bumpers for Toyota's and a lot of other brands), and noticed they had nothing for the Ford Ranger.

So being the kind of person I am, I decided to send them an e-mail.

Well, I got a response today, and it makes sense. So for those wondering why they don't have a bumper for the Ranger, here is an answer:

James,

Thank you for your letter and your interest in ARB! The Ford Ranger as well as the F150 are two very popular vehicles here in the US and there is a lot of demand for accessories for them here. ARB is based in Australia. All Design, Engineering and testing is carried out in that country. The product line is slanted to what vehicles are available and popular in OZ, not necessarily what is popular in the US. ARB Australia has to source, purchase and import non-native vehicles in order to perform engineering testing and test fitment for products. They must weigh the expense of that combined with costs such as tool design, material, and fabrication with what the projected sales may be domestically and worldwide. So far we (ARB USA) have heard of no plans out of Australia to manufacture exterior accessories for the US Ford Ranger. Having stated that, bug OZ. If they hear enough demand out of the US for this bar…who knows. Get a thousand of your Ranger buddies together and send letters to OZ.

Thanks,

Duffy Biggs

If you got 1000 people to pay $500 a bumper they might do it.

I still don't see them doing it. Demand isn't high enough.

that's lame. if they want to stay competetive, they would include american trucks. you mean to tell me that all the ranger and f150 owners have never sent similar emails?
i'm sure their bumpers are great and all. but why not build your own or find a different company to deal with.

if they don't wanna do the R&D, there are other comapnies that have and would love to sell you a bumper.

See what happens when I try and type all fast like cool guy.

I meant if they haven't made anything for Rangers yet then they never will.

And they won't do anything since more people offroad Jeeps and Yotas more than Fords.

Marlin Crawler makes some sweet bumpers for Toyotas. I wish more companies made them for Rangers.

With very high compression shocks, it prob wont do much as far as front end sag.

There are 6800 registered members on the site, even after weeding out all the inactives/spam accounts, I think we could round up a thousand.

*Edit: 6800 not 6500.

What that letter is saying is the Ranger(I know its called something else) in Australia is different than the one in the states, ARB would have to ship an American Ranger to Australia in order to do R&D on it. ARB is not trying to be "Lame," Ford offers a different model in Australia is all the letter is stating.

couldnt we make it easier then sending individual emails... like possibly start a thread with a poll and then send them one email with the link to the thread and they can see everyones opinion..

but i realy want a dang arb bumper their nice!

BTW sea-bass which bumper did you buy off custom4x4fabrication.com? im kinda stumped because i might go with one like your design "not trying to be a copy cat"

Its for a ZJ, and I dont think of it as being a copycat. We all like the same things, its cool. I know of 4 or 5 members that have the same set-up. Thats why I put the link in my sig, so others can buy one if they want.

Link...
http://www.custom4x4fabrication.com/...ord_ranger.htm

What all of you should be doing is contacting someone who is local...as in, the US. Like Mike at Custom 4x4 fabrication, he has worked with all of us who have purchased a bumper from him and I don’t think any of us have anything but great things to say about him and the work he does. And you cant beat the price he charges, maybe we can get a member to take there Ranger to him so he can figure out the brackets and everything needed for a simple "bolt-on" installation...The ones who have purchased a bumper from him have all had to make our own brackets for mounting, if he could R&D a Ranger maybe that would change.
