so ive been thinking of getting a utility trailer for a while now, i really like the ones people make out of truck beds and found one super cheap

but im wondering, do those weigh too much? I only have the bumper hitch, but i have towed a loaded uhaul enclosed 5x8 before no problems and i cant imagine those would weigh more than one of these ... and i figure if i buy that one there eventually i could find a cheap topper for it and id have a fairly decent trailer.

Ive been trying to find an 8ft made out of a compact bed but dont see too many of em, figure a 6' compact is too small for my needs ... and a 6' full size would just be a waste

 

Those type of trailers are typically rather heavy, and i wouldnt not suggest towing on on just your bumper. I would look for a hitch first.

 

Yeah. Hitches aren't that expensive. I would invest in one before I towed anything.

well ill hit the junkyards then ... will a hitch off an explorer also fit?

dude, b4 you buy a truck bed trailer, find a old boat trailer, fix it up (weighs like 200 lbs) and fix what needs to be fixed and put some boards down, by the time your done it will be the lightest trailer on the road, i just built onedown here, and after i was done it weighed some 300 lbs, and i was gunna just use it for scrap metal. lol

 

you should get a trailer or make one
from a truck bed just like yours.

 

yea a boat trailer is another idea ive toyed with ... my dad also thinks one of those harbor frieght or northern tool 4x8s are ok too

i just really wanted something coverable and figured a pickup bed with a shell is a good way to go

 

craigslist, all over the place, a small atv trailer, brand new 400

 

been watching craigslist ... the problem is i live in a smaller area, so all the good stuff is a 100+ mile drive to either sacramento or redding ... and then if i want to branch out more reno and sf bay area.

 

making a trailer is veery simple.... just finde a good welder and the pieces and ur good to go... just get some instruccions . also get a hitch would be a shame to get home and see half pulled out ur bumper

 

100 miles each way is nothing for a decent deal.

if anyone who originally seen this thread, still no hitch (went pick and pulling last month and couldnt get the ONE 93+ ranger i found with one to come off) but i did fix up a trailer, i got for 150

i looked at all the local junkyards and none of them had any 93+ rangers so i ended up ording mine it was like 130 from etrailer.com

 

yea i got my hitch for my integra off etrailer.com ... still would like to junkyard one for the ranger if possible

 

Hmm, I might order one off e-trailer. They have a no drill bolt on one. Which did you guys get?

 

the one i got from them for my integra was bolt on no drilling, we just backed the car onto ramps and my dad and i took 15 mins tops gettin it on

 

just noticed this post.

I know 100 miles is nothing, but i made the drive to the sacramento area couple of times to go look at stuff and it turned out to suck, and about 70 of those miles have to be done on country *** 55 mph farm roads which suck.
