millage randomly got REAL BAD

for some reason my gas millage suddenly got way worse after i cleared the code to my check engine light. the light never came back on but i still dont know what caused it and screwed over my gas millage. i know it wont get good millage any way but i was gettin 200 at the least out of a tank. i doubt ill get 150 out of this one. any ideas? o2 sensor maybe?

how did you cleared the code and don't know what its for? did you just reset the light? you know autozone will read it for free right? just bc you cleared the lights doesn't mean you fixed the problem.

i scaned it and looked it up in the book myself. it said somethin i forgot what but it could have been alot of things. anyways just to see if the light would come back on i cleared it and it hasnt been on again but its suckin more gas.

doesn't it take like 3 or 4 engine starts for the ECU to reset and throw another code? so, you should find out soon enough what the problem is, but just because your MPG is terrible doesn't really narrow down the problem....it could be one of several issues.

if you have a problem and you generate a code, clearing the code won't make the problem go away. A code is a message telling you to investigate what is actually wrong.

150 miles per tank is awfully bad.

I'd first check into a dragging brake and properly inflated tires. If those are good then I'd clean the MAF sensor.
Then drive it for a while and see if the code comes back. If it does post up here so we can help better.
