My '98 has the front grill with the lower rectangular amber turn signals below the headlights. I noticed that Ford changed that in 2001 to where its just the color of the truck below the headlight. Is it possible to change my truck to that style? What would I need to change? Is it just the front grill piece that would need to be swapped?

 

You can, you need a new front valance and lights and stuff. I know someone that has done it will chime in.

 

I might be wrong, but I'm 95% certain you would need a whole new header panel.....

Yeah. So you'll need a new header panel, new headlights, new corner lenses, and a new grill.....you'd have to do a whole 2001+ front end conversion. bumper is interchangeable, I THINK. But hey, what do I know...I'm a Mazda guy. :P

Anyway thats how I want my front end, so is the billet a separate piece or part of grille/valance?

 

Its a replacement piece that goes in the grille shell. You need:

01-03 header panel
01-03 grille
01-09 headlights/corners

 

So will all the bolts just line up or will I have to modify stuff? And where do you guys normally get your replacements from? I would assume most of the front end stuff from an auto wreckers is smashed up...

 

it's a direct swap. get a led EP27 flasher to eliminate the two extra turnsignal bulbs. there's tons of threads...search 'front end swap'. What you are wanting to do is do a 01-03 front grille conversion.

You will need these which could be bought for like $10 each from lmctruck.com...you need two of each style, a total of 4 to hold the headlamps to the header panel.

 

I got all of my replacement parts from Certifit.com, you have to go to them though they don't ship.

 

So when you buy a front end new can you specify what color you want or do they just come primered and you have to get it painted?

 

It depends where you get it from. The parts will come in black unpainted plastic. If you get it from Ford they'll paint it for you, any body shop will paint it for you. Certifit it comes in unpainted.
