Ranger Edge

I own a 02 Ranger XLT 4.0 4x4 off road. I have noticed that when I'm looking for parts for my truck that I'm ask if its an Ranger Edge. This occurs at places like Autozone, Advanced Auto, Napa, etc. I was wondering what was so special about the Ranger Edge. From what I've been able to tell is nothing except for it says Edge on them. Does anyone know what the differance is

Edge 2wd trucks come with torsion bar front suspension. Your 4x4 will have that anyway.

From my understanding, after that, it is nothing more than a few painted to match pieces.

edge 2wd and 4x4 are the same height. edge has a vinyl floor and color coded bumpers, grille surround, and fender flares. edges sold in the midwest all came with 245's. all edges have torsion bars.

What do edges come with not from the Midwest?

Don't the 2wd edges come with vinyl and 4wd come with carpet or is that the XLT models.

I know it is backwards from what you think it should be 4wd carpet and 2wd vinyl.

bigger tires were just an option its how the truck was ordered option wise, had nothing to do with regions getting trucks with a certain size tire on them.

vinyl floors FTW!

A couple years ago I looked at an 02 Edge 2wd ext cab. I was immediately sold on the vinyl floor, but not sold on the 2wd and automatic.

The edge has more styling, Torsion front end for a higher ride and blocks in the rear for higher ride. I believe they also have upgraded shocks. There actually ere 4wd edges at one point IIRC.

these were things i was wondering about as well being a 4wd edge owner. but one more question about the edge arises: whats with the different placements for the "edge" decals? on some (mine and others) i see it in front of the rear wheel at the bottom of the bed. on other edge's i see it above the tail light similar to the placement of an FX4 decal. whats the difference?

01-03 was the lower position in front of the rear wheel and 04-05 were back towards the tail light IIRC
