While on the subject, can someone explain to me why those in the offroad world call them damage multipliers?

I understand that they fold back when you get in a bad colission, but if it is bad enough to fold the brush guard back, I'd think that the front end would be messed up pretty bad anyway.

Just like rear hatch mounted spares (Jeeps,Land Rovers,CRV's and such) cause more damage to the vehicle they are mounted to.

Na, something about them folding back and ruining places that wouldnt have normally been ruined. However, I've seen the stock brushguard on an FJ take a deer a 55mph and they just had to pick some guts out of the grille.

I was talking about getting a skid plate and brush guard in place of my front bumper and I talked to a bunch of guys from the offroad club on campus and most called brush guards damage multipliers and I should get something from ARB or the likes. Like a one piece bumper, guard aparati. lol
