diesel chip

i know most here dont got diesels but prolly would know much more than me...

ive seen some performance chips that can upgrade ur diesel performance on big diesels for even over 100hp and im sure ive read somewere of chips made for diesel model rangers..

my question is if anyone here knows how do they work and if its really an upgrade worth to consider as i do not know anything about them

thanks

Most chips just change timing and pulse times of injectors. Increase pump/injector pressure and depending on turbo setup, boost rate and pressure.

All dependent on your injection style, PCM style, turbo controller, etc.

Unfortunately I don't think anyone on here has a newer diesel Ranger to suggest a chip model.

yeah im trying to look for a model that makes chips for small-midsize diesel trucks.

but at the end of the day this chips does work then? anyone has tried them on other trucks to see if there is really an upgrade to the power or its just advertising?

What kind of fuel system does your truck have? I'm guessing it's all unit injectors elec. controlled. If it's mechanical, you can do some other things to it.

if its mechanical there is no chip that can give you power...youll have to do fuel upgrades and that can get $$$$ email EDGE performance and see what they say to you

...stage 5....depends what system your running, i ran an Evo edge II programmer, 100HP 200FT/LBS torque, and that was only 3 stages, 40-70-100, was intense on stage 3...hint of black smoke...and tires melt off..BLACK SMOKE means nothing, sorry to rain on ya but alls black smoke is loss of fuel and no power...Clean clear exaust is what you want, maybe with a hint of black but them idiots out there that have the "crazy larry" setting and the mosquito fog coming out of it realized its actually GAY lol sorry to say..ill miss my girl..i hope they actually fix her!

^^Lot's of black smoke means you need more air...lol. Lot's of 750+ HP trucks laying down runs with minimal smoke. I'm glad people are showing more clean power.

Well if yours is mechanical, it's basically free to get more power out of it. You can do what a chip can do with the turn of a couple of screws, a fueling pin, or gov. springs.

Well if you don't want to compromise it's life, I'd suggest getting an EGT (exhaust gas temp. gauge) so you know how hot it runs now. That way you can add a little fuel without over heating (melting) parts. I don't know what kind of injection pump you have but if it's mechanical there is a fuel screw, and since you have a turbo, an aneroid. There is also some other parts that determine fueling, but between the fuel screw and aneroid you should beable to make all the power you want. Ask your mechanic to turn up the fuel screw, and see what he says

EGT is a must...DO not start playing around with fuel and air settings without putting an EGT in....my truck went from 600degress to 9-1000 degrees after being chipped, YOU HAVE to be careful youll start destroying **** in a hearbeat if the proper precautions are not taken, by all means turn up the screw but i wouldnt touch a thing till a few gauges were installed, espcially EGT, TRANS and BOOST, a few autometer guages should be perfect, i dont know about your engine but im sure its an ECW ( electronically controlled Wastegate ) meaning the trucks computer tells the turbo when to build boost and to bleed it off, now when you start tampering with it without putting in a resistor or something the truck will actually de fuel once the max boost in the computer is hit and youll lose power, honestly dont start toying with things unless you do your research first...upgrade your exaust and intake too before you start shoving air anf fuel down its throat..

I hope i dont come off as a dick but trust me listen to me now before you destroy something by accident, ive seen it done....a diesel is not cheap to replace!
