Last week i replaced the trans filter and gasket on my 5 speed auto. Since then i believe first gear is being held longer than it used to. (it may not be i just have been listening to it shifting more than i used to) Does any one have the stock shift points for my trans?

 

Actually, I'm in the middle of updating my tunes. Tonight when I'm working on them.. I'll let you know what my stock 06FX4 settings are.

btw.. if you have a OBD2 scanner that can see the tranny gear? You can see when the PCM commands the shift.
It's all a balance of TPS and speed. So.. to say something like.. 18mph for the 1-3 shift (skip shift for the 5speeds) is really dependant on what the TPS is. (throttle position)

i got a transmission guy to lengthen out my first gears for better hauling and faster start, but only when there is high rpms. But i'm not sure what stock is but mine is 0-35mph's first gear, second 36-47, third gear is 48-60, fourth is 61-78, and fifth is 79-101.

 

I'm not sure about a 98 ranger. But on my 06 w/5speed that could be done in the tune.

Really.. it's all based on three things as far as a tune goes. Vehicle speed, throttle position, and the math curves in the tune.

Tonight I'll post up some pics of what they look like in stock form.

i found the shift points on Mitchells. I dont have the sheet in front of me but every thing seems to be good. Im gonna get and xcal tuner pretty soon and plan to screw around with the shift points.

 

With just an x-cal you can only change WOT shift points... provided the tuner knows what they are doing. Bama and henson BOTH didn't set my x-cal properly.
