need help with power to fuel pump
need help with power to fuel pump
went to start it up one morning and wouldnt start so started with basic question does it have spark?...does it have fuel has spark no fuel so i listened for my pump to come on and it did not checked the relasy and they are good what else should i check the pump works i dropped the tank and put power to the pump and it spins so where should i check and what should i look for
see if yours has a fuel cut off switch. Its under the dash, under the carpet on the passenger side. There is a red reset button. if the unit is out, you can pull the two wires off and connect them together(temporarily) to bypass it (if it is malfunctioning). Hopefully hitting the button will fix it.
How did you determine the relay was good. Did you swap it with another one?

yes and i did press the inertia switch which it wasnt tripped but that did nothing i will try to bypass it and see if that does anything but i need my truck asap so i may just wire it up to a switch but i would like to fix it the right way
When you checked the pump was it in gas? How long did you test it for? I have replaced 6 fuel pumps in my truck in 2 years and I have seen a couple of them that would not run the truck, I could pull em, check em and they would run with no trouble. Next I would check your ground wire and make sure its good, then trace down the main power wire. How did you check the relay?
we ohmed out the relay and replaced it with a known working one thats how we checked it i figured its not the pump it just were not getting power to it since the pump is not turning on and robert you got your money back so do not start anything please grow up and if you have somthing to say pm me but i dont see why you would
You know what, I will pm you but you never seemed to reply to lets see...any of the ones I ever sent you after you got my $100. I am done posting here for now so you can go back to getting the help you need from the other respectable members on here.
+1 the inertia switches do go bad rarely. I don't knwo where you're located or where you park your truck, but i've seen problems like this from animals chewing up wires. make sure all the wiring to the pump is in good condition. and as someone else mentioned check you grounds and clean you battery cables/terminals. It's suprising how often something as simple as a bad connection is the problem.
