Where is yours mounted?

I'd like to buy one, but not sure where I want to install it. I was thinking on the lid of my tool box, but I doubt the hydraulic shocks will take the added load, so I'd have to do a sort of prop rod for the tool box. Or inside the bed, on the side.

I had to take out my **** so you could see the jack. I keep more stuff in there.

edit saw you post, good idea with the carpet! funny when you go to lowes Kobalt now sells a rubber pad with them, guess they finally caught on

 

Yeah, I keep my things clean.

People who leave their trucks or belongings in general dirty, messy, or unogranized are lazy and slobs.

I mean how long does it take to clean out a tool box?

 

My hi-lift was like the only thing I ever used in my tool box so it stayed right up on top with the jumper cables.

I would buy ones of those but I don't think its much use on a stock truck, would scratch up my bumper if I ever used it...

 

My stuff is in crates inside my tool box, so i can pull what i need out. Doesn't make it dirty, messy, or unorganized because i cant fit anything else in it. But I still prefer function over looks when it comes to the truck tool box. Load that sucker up with ANYTHING you may need, recovery gear, first aid, tire repair, tools, etc.

The about $15k i have in my hand tools are squeaky clean lol

and yes, it'd be pretty useless on a stock truck. And there aren't many places you can use it without bending or scratching the hell out of something. It will get the job done though when you need it

I still have my spare 9" shaft, snapped 44 shaft, insulated coveralls, internals of a locking hub, 2 jugs of washer fluid, almost used up shop towel roll and a bunch of other **** floating around the back seat from the last wheelin trip, then the mandatory passenger side floor board trash can


... All the tools in my big box, and roll around at work are all shiny and clean though.

 

Yeah all my stuff is in crates too, makes it so much easier to stay organized.

 

Heres mine. I'm stock, used it a bunch of times, but I have a front hitch, and I also made a homemade version of the straps and hooks you hook to your rim as a lifting point.

 

i'm guilty of not keeping stuff organized when I'm wheelin.

I bring my big *** tool bag to work, then toss every tool i could possibly need into it..

If you use it there is a difference. Having things handy is better then having them oranized when wheeling or working.

id like to see your home made lift straps for your tires please! :)

 

They are not "put together" right now (in my disorganized bag of tow straps, d-rings, chains etc...), but if you google the term and see what they look like, then imagine the pulling ingredients:
two hooks from the ends of 2 heavy duty (5 ton) ratchet straps (they are rubber coated so not to mark your rim), and pieces of those straps cut and tied shorter, then tied to those hooks so it clears the top of my wheel at the point where I hook it onto my hi-lift onto it. Used them in the parking lot once, just to prove to myself they work. But honestly, I use my front hitch instead. I had to do the lift front of truck & push over/repeat deal a few times to get out of some ruts.
