Black Wheels
Black Wheels
So to lay it out for you guys my truck is a forest green but its not a ford color. I have black windows (tinted) and a black tool box with the gray painted bumpers that need to be repainted and the grill needs some paint too. I have been thinking about painting the stock wheels (five spoke) and the bumpers and grill all black. I don't have money to buy new wheels so That is why i was wanting to paint the stocks wheels black and then find chrome caps to cover the lug nuts. I was just curious as to what everyone else thought about it? Also if anyone else has stock painted black wheels lets see them. Thanks
To give you and idea...
Truck on the right is dark green with black wheels....
Truck on the left is dark blue with black stuff all over.....replace blue with green and BAM! you've got yourself a sneek peek to what it'll look like sorta.
I say do it!!

The trucks look good guys. I think next week I'm gonna start painting some of the stuff. I also forgot to mention my truck is two wheel drive and is stock height so it wont look as good as a 4x4 but still has some style. Down the road I might lift it and put larger tires on.
So i just found a picture on my computer and was wanting to see if anyone would want to photo shop my grill, steel bumper(not plastic valence), and wheel black. Also if its possible make one photo with the orange markers black and one without. Thanks

I like using rustoleum for metal parts and i will use it on my wheels. Im not sure what i want to do to the front yet though because the grill and front bumper will see flying rocks and bugs constantly attacking the paint so I am still debating what i want to do.
Well last week I decided to paint all the stuff I wanted to.
I started off by taking the wheels off and sanding them lightly with steel wool and then painting them black. I used Rustoleum and i sprayed primer, base, and clear. I then took the bumpers off and took the plastics off of the bumpers. I sanded the front bumper excessively to get the little dings out and rusts spots out of it. I lightly sanded the rear bumper with some sand paper and steel wool also. The grill was the next piece that took some time to sand. I sanded the majority of the original paint off because it was weak and chipping. I then used Rustolem for to paint the rest of it the same way I painted the wheels. After reviewing the truck i decided I needed to paint the hubs on the rear of the truck and those were heavily rusted. I used an angle grinder with a wire wheel to get the rust off and then I also painted that with some left over Krylon rust stopper paint. My headlights were also very yellow and I didn't want to buy new ones so I sanded them down and polished them with some headlight restorer and they came out looking a lot better than they used to be.

Ya I think it look a lot better than it did. I love the wheels but i still wish I had chrome bumpers and grill but it also cost a lot more than the paint I put into it. Maybe down the road I will do something else like lift it or buy new bumpers who knows.
