Valvoline Durablend vs. Motorcraft Synthetic blend

As an alternative to using a full synthetic motor oil, I'm curious to which synthetic blend oil you prefer [or think is a better oil] of the 2 choices listed.

I've been running the Durablend for several years now. Never had a problem with it. I have never tried Motorcrafts though.

I've used Durablend in my '95 F-150 and the Motorcraft in the 2000 F-150 that I had and liked both oils, but never did a UOA on either one.

Never heard of either actually. I just use Penzoil 5W-30. But with the higher mileage on my truck, I've often wondered about switching to a high mileage synthetic.

I'll see what the search has to say about it.

i once cut open a bottle of penzoil to use as a funnel and in the bottom of a brand new quart was quite a bit of sandy looking shi1! Never ever ever ever will i use penzoil... just me

btw you gotta figure that Ford isnt going to use crap oil on cars they carry a warranty on. Ford oil FTW

All the pricey Lucas oil I've emptied out lately has a small amount of dark grey/black residue on the bottom. Even if you shake it up first.

Just noticed that the semi-synthetic TropArtic bottle looks just like the Motorcraft bottle, with the same design contours.

I'll probably be switching to (API approved) Motorcraft SS at my next oil change just to simplify things while my truck is still under warranty, even if it avoids just one argument with a Ford service advisor it'll be worth it. Didn't think I'd ever have a warranty repair since I've never had a warranty repair done in all the cars I've owned, but at 11,000 miles I already had issues with a bad torque converter and a bad converter housing (pump housing?)

IMO Valvoline is a better blend of the two but I still prefer castrol or mobil 1

And Pensoil is JUNK dont put that crap in your truck man

Every weight of Amsoil XL, along with every other form of Amsoil is on my racks right now. And quite a few cases of various Lucas oils too.

You could go chop up some oil filters and cabin air filters and take real pretty pictures of them while you're testing them, and cry a thousand times about it!

I'm still running Amsoil. 123K miles with no problems. The rattle after the oil change was always there even when I bought the truck.

Not that many. Only 5000ish so far. I am not going wither their extended change intervals. I will be changing it at 7500 miles. But no new noises that weren't there before.

Never heard of a torque converter being called a "housing", like you just stated - an "assembly" maybe, a "housing"...never.

Get the Motorcraft. It's SAE/API certified.

And as far as I know its made buy Conoco Phillips who also makes Kendall.

Hey I see what you're saying - You think Amsoil XL would be a perfect choice for now and when API certification isn't a warranty concern, go back with one of the high dollar Amsoils. I'll keep that in mind, but I still wouldn't be opposed to using the Motorcraft or Valvoline blend oils for awhile. Thanks.
