So i'm in my step-sisters ranger today
and its making this horrible noise and shaking like mad. We get out and i go to see wtf was wrong and lo and behold

ONE lug nut holding the wheel on... and loosely i might add.j
Turns out one of the post had snapped a while back and they never fixed it so the rest decided to break off as a result.
I'm just glad we didn't lose the wheel and possibly roll over of worse

No pun intended!
You are VERY lucky. Get that fixed ASAP.
Excuse for aftermarket wheels? I think so!
Just make sure to actually check the lugs every so often (I like to do mine once a week. Probably overkill, but what the hey, right?).

Everyone in that truck was very, very fortunate.
The consequences could have been very tragic. Glad you caught it in time.
BTW, a quick "walkaround" and visual check of any vehicle you get into might not be a bad idea - especially if it's not yours.

my buddy lost a wheel like that and the thing almost killed two people in a car coming the other way... the wheel rolled down the highway jumped the divider and hit a oncoming car dead center of the roof by the windshield... everyone was unhurt although quite a few pairs of undershorts were lost as well as a 95 caprice...i make it a point to check my lugs regularly
